They want to keep you buckled up in your car, to put an unblinking camera lens in school classrooms and to stop you from smoking in public places.

They want anyone younger than 18 to wear a bicycle helmet and to set bar closing times at 2 a.m. They have asked Congress for a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages.

"We want legislators to know undocumented immigrants aren't asking for much."

Neither am I. Go home!

Tell the legislature that illegal immigrants are smoking and not wearing seat belts. That should do it.

Maybe we could pass a helmet law requirement for all kids who participate in swinging a big stick while trying to beat a pinata into submission. Some little nipper could get hurt, ya know.

Susan Perry of Phoenix is counting on lawmakers to make it safer for neighborhood activists to do their work. She is supporting House Bill 2607, which would protect people who serve on local government citizens panels from being sued.

Perry, president of the Longview West Neighborhood Association, faced a $1.3 million lawsuit as a result of her efforts to keep a minimart gas station from selling liquor. The business owner sued her for defamation and, though the lawsuit was thrown out, she believes some sort of protection is needed.

"It scared the hell out of me," Perry, 44, said about her legal ordeal. "I couldn't sleep. I couldn't eat and had problems concentrating at work."

Legislation so that she can slander and defame without fear.... I'm sure the 'rats will come running to the rescue. I wonder if she considered the minimart owner's feelings?

Now, that would fall under the culturally insensitve category. Would have to be very creative writing that bill.

Really cute - they want to give lawbreakers (illegals) privileges (licenses) but take them away from law abiding business owners by forcing them to prohibit smoking in their establishments.

This makes a whole heck of a lot of sense to me.........NOT.

No, no, no. Think of all the potential victims out there who must be kept safe from all harm. Laws that help save people are a necessity of life.

Would have to be very creative writing that bill.

It's for the anchor babies children. (Now that was culturally insensitive.)

Other residents like 41-year-old Phil Poisson of Gilbert are backing a statewide smoking ban on enclosed public buildings and private workplaces. Poisson, who has never smoked, said the idea is to protect workers from secondhand smoke.

"We're not trying to stop people from smoking," said Poisson, who recognizes the legislation is facing an uphill battle during an election year when lawmakers might be cautious about supporting a controversial bill.

"We're just trying to create a healthy place for people to work," he said.

Who the hell is THIS idiot?  He wants the world to rotate on HIS BUTT? Well, he must think mighty high of himself.

If this bill passes, how about stopping the Tobacco Settlement Payments into the state?  Sounds about right to ME!

The smokers in Arizona pay more then their fair share!
